Homewood, IL – AT&T crews and subcontractors are set to begin installing new fiber optic infrastructure throughout Homewood neighborhoods this month, according to notices distributed to residents.
The project, managed by AT&T with contractors Pirtano and Anveri, will require access to public utility easements and right-of-way areas located around and within residential properties. Work includes conduit installation, handhole placement, and fiber splicing to support high-speed internet expansion across the area.
According to AT&T, crews will knock on doors when accessing yards and restore disturbed areas to their original condition once work is complete. The company noted that utility flags and paint marks may temporarily appear on lawns during the project and asked residents to leave them in place until removal.
The utility company said work will involve minimal digging, primarily within approved easement zones, as permitted by the Village of Homewood. Restoration will include black dirt and seed matting to promote new grass growth.
Crews are expected to proceed in stages—first locating utilities, then boring, conduit placement, and finally cable pulling and splicing. Homeowners may notice temporary construction materials or cable reels near their property as crews progress.
Once complete, AT&T says residents will be able to order new fiber services directly at att.com/internet.
Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to call the AT&T project line at 1-800-843-6581 or refer to door tags distributed prior to work beginning.
