Tampa, FL – A two-month narcotics investigation in Hillsborough County has led to multiple arrests and the seizure of drugs, firearms, and cash, impacting neighborhoods across South Tampa and Davis Islands today.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the agency’s Gang Unit concluded an extensive investigation targeting alleged members of the Vice Lords gang. Detectives carried out a buy/bust operation that resulted in the arrest of Jose Dehoyos, 32, after he allegedly delivered two ounces of cocaine to an undercover officer.

Authorities said detectives then executed two residential search warrants in South Tampa and on Davis Islands. During those searches, investigators reportedly located more than five pounds of cocaine, four pistols, approximately $40,000 in U.S. currency, five pounds of marijuana, and multiple prescription pills.

Officials confirmed that Joshua Dehoyos, 48, was also taken into custody as a result of the investigation. Both individuals are facing charges tied to narcotics trafficking and related offenses, though formal charges may evolve as the case progresses.

The operation is part of an ongoing effort by local law enforcement to disrupt gang-related drug activity in Hillsborough County and the greater Tampa area. According to investigators, these types of operations aim to reduce the flow of illegal narcotics and remove firearms from potentially dangerous situations.

Authorities have not released additional details about further suspects or whether more arrests are expected, but the investigation remains active.

Residents in the affected areas may notice an increased law enforcement presence as officials continue follow-up efforts tied to the case.
