Cheyenne, WY – Residents across Wyoming are bracing for powerful winds as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued High Wind Warnings for several regions, effective through Thursday morning.
The Cheyenne office of the NWS announced winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching 65 mph, are expected across Converse County, East Platte County, Central Carbon County, Laramie Valley, and Central Laramie County. The warning is in effect from 3 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday. These conditions could create hazardous travel, particularly on north-to-south highways, with a heightened risk for vehicle blowovers.
Meanwhile, the Riverton NWS office has issued a separate High Wind Warning for the Green Mountains, Rattlesnake Range, and Natrona County, including Casper and Jeffrey City. Southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph and localized gusts of 70 mph, are anticipated between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Wednesday. Drivers of high-profile vehicles are urged to exercise caution.
