Omaha, NE – Strong winds and accumulating snow are expected to create hazardous travel conditions across northeast Nebraska starting early Saturday. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, with wind gusts reaching up to 60 mph and snowfall potentially causing near-blizzard conditions.

According to the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley, rain will transition to snow from northwest to southeast Friday night into early Saturday. While snowfall accumulations are generally expected to remain around an inch or less, areas near the South Dakota state line could see up to two inches. The highest concern is for blowing snow, which, combined with strong winds, could significantly reduce visibility, especially in open areas.

A High Wind Warning is also in effect for parts of northeast Nebraska, with gusts up to 60 mph expected from late Friday night through early Saturday afternoon. Areas just east of the warning zone will experience winds up to 50 mph under a Wind Advisory.

Travelers should exercise caution, as strong winds and snow could create slick roads and limited visibility. Authorities advise monitoring updates and considering alternate travel plans if conditions worsen.
