Southern California – Dangerous fire weather conditions are expected to persist across the region Tuesday and Wednesday, heightening wildfire risks. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that critical to extreme fire-weather conditions will impact the area through Wednesday night.

According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, a combination of 20-40 mph offshore winds with stronger gusts and relative humidity as low as 8% will create conditions ripe for rapid fire growth. While peak winds will be slightly weaker than last week’s event, these conditions still pose a significant threat.

Critical fire weather is forecast to affect areas including Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties. The risk will increase Tuesday morning as winds strengthen and persist into Wednesday. Conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday evening as winds subside.

Authorities urge residents to exercise caution with outdoor activities that could spark fires. The NWS recommends securing loose objects that could be blown into power lines or other hazards. Residents in fire-prone areas should prepare for potential evacuations and monitor local alerts.

Southern California experienced similar fire weather last week, leading to multiple brush fires. Emergency officials stress the importance of early preparation during periods of heightened fire danger.
