Henry County, IN – A late-night traffic stop on Interstate 70 ended with a reckless driving arrest after a vehicle was allegedly clocked traveling at more than 110 miles per hour, according to Indiana State Police.

According to Indiana State Police Pendleton Post, the incident occurred Tuesday night around 10:00 p.m. when a trooper observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed on Interstate 70 westbound near the 129-mile marker. Police said the vehicle was measured at 111 miles per hour.

The driver, identified as a 20-year-old man from Indianapolis, was operating a Mazda CX-50 at the time of the stop, police said. He was arrested on a charge of reckless driving and transported to the Henry County Jail. The vehicle was also impounded as part of the arrest.

Troopers emphasized that excessive speed significantly increases the risk of serious crashes, especially on heavily traveled interstates like I-70, which runs through Henry County and serves as a major corridor between Indianapolis and eastern Indiana.

Indiana State Police used the incident to remind drivers that reckless driving endangers not only the person behind the wheel but everyone else sharing the roadway. Authorities continue to conduct speed enforcement efforts across the region, particularly during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced and reaction times are critical.

No injuries were reported in this incident, and no additional charges have been announced as of Wednesday.

Motorists traveling through Henry County and along I-70 are urged to obey posted speed limits and allow extra travel time to reach their destinations safely.
