Sullivan County, PA – Residents of Sullivan County are preparing for a significant winter storm expected to bring up to a foot of snow.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning from 4 p.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday. Forecasts predict total snow accumulations of 5 to 12 inches, with the heaviest snowfall on ridgetops. The heaviest snow is expected overnight, tapering off by Friday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, hazardous conditions may disrupt Friday morning commutes. The snow’s weight could damage trees and power lines, potentially causing sporadic power outages. Road travel will likely become treacherous, and delays or cancellations are possible.
Officials recommend postponing nonessential travel. Drivers who must be on the road are urged to carry winter essentials, including tire chains, blankets, and a flashlight. Power outage kits, water, and food are also advised for home preparation.
