Heavy snow is expected across the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles early Friday, with snowfall rates reaching up to 2 inches per hour. Road conditions along Highway 412 and other major routes could quickly become treacherous, prompting travel warnings.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, an upper-level low moving across New Mexico will push intense snowfall into the Panhandles beginning early Friday. Strong eastern winds, expected to reach up to 45 knots, could worsen conditions, leading to reduced visibility and icy, slick roadways. Residents and travelers are urged to delay nonessential trips and prepare for potential road closures throughout Friday.

Following Friday’s snowstorm, temperatures will stay below freezing overnight, with cold but clearer weather expected on Veterans Day, allowing for safer travel by Monday.
