St. Louis, MO – A significant winter storm is set to impact parts of Missouri and Illinois beginning Saturday night, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a Winter Storm Warning from 10 p.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Monday.

According to the NWS, the storm is expected to bring 8 to 11 inches of snow, with sleet possible in some areas. Wind gusts could reach up to 35 mph, further reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions. Affected areas include portions of southwest and west-central Illinois, as well as central and northeast Missouri, including cities like Quincy, Hannibal, and Litchfield.

Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm and to prepare emergency kits with essential supplies. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact Monday morning commutes, making travel extremely difficult.
