St. Louis, MO – A wave of showers is forecast to sweep across southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois on Wednesday, bringing rain and possibly thunder to the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis reports that rain chances range from 50% to 80% throughout the day, with rainfall amounts under a quarter of an inch for most areas.
According to NWS, the showers will begin in the morning, tapering off to light drizzle by Wednesday evening. Areas in southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois may see isolated spots of heavier rainfall. A few rumbles of thunder are possible as the system moves through, though severe weather is not anticipated.
NWS recommends that residents be prepared for wet road conditions and reduced visibility during morning and evening commutes. The rain will continue through Wednesday night, easing up overnight into Thursday. St. Louis, Columbia, Farmington, and other nearby cities are expected to see scattered showers throughout the day, with the heaviest rain likely in the early afternoon.
