TALLAHASSEE, FL – Heavy rain is expected to sweep across the Florida Panhandle and southeast Alabama through Wednesday, raising concerns about localized flooding. Rainfall totals may exceed 4 inches in some areas, particularly along major roadways, including U.S. Route 231 and Interstate 10.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, the heaviest rain will fall between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. While this rain is welcomed due to ongoing drought conditions, drivers should exercise caution as sudden downpours could lead to standing water and reduced visibility.

Today’s forecast includes overcast skies with a high of 73°F and a 20% chance of isolated showers. Rain chances increase overnight, reaching 30% by early Tuesday. By Tuesday night, widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop, with a 90% chance of precipitation.

Wednesday will see the heaviest rain, accompanied by a potential thunderstorm. Highs will reach 66°F, with southwest winds shifting northwest as the storm front passes. Conditions will improve by Wednesday night, with clear skies and cooler lows near 37°F.

The rest of the week promises sunny and dry conditions. Thursday and Friday will see highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, with lows in the 30s. Travelers and residents are urged to monitor weather updates and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
