Oklahoma City, OK – An excessive heat warning is in effect for parts of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas from noon to 9 PM today. Residents should prepare for dangerously high heat index values up to 113 degrees in affected areas including Tulsa, Muskogee, and Bartlesville. A heat advisory has also been issued for the rest of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas with heat indexes expected to reach up to 109 degrees.
According to the US National Weather Service Tulsa, the hot and humid conditions will persist throughout the day, increasing the likelihood of heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in air-conditioned environments, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
The forecast for Tulsa predicts temperatures will remain high throughout the week. Today and Wednesday, temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees. Thursday could see a peak of 102 degrees, followed by slightly lower, yet still hot, temperatures of 98 degrees on Friday. The weekend will continue to be warm, with highs of 96 degrees on Saturday and 97 degrees on Sunday.
