Nashville, TN – Tennessee residents are in for another challenging weather day as the region grapples with a combination of severe storms and soaring temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville warns that the entire area, particularly Middle Tennessee, will experience significant weather impacts today.

According to the NWS, the unpredictable “Northwest Flow” pattern is pushing the weather eastward by about 50 miles compared to yesterday. The stormy conditions could bring damaging winds and potential flash flooding, particularly in the northeastern regions, including the Cumberland Plateau. The timing of these storms is uncertain, with the most likely window occurring between this afternoon and tonight, from 8 PM to 2 AM.

For those areas that avoid the storms, the trade-off is extreme heat. With temperatures expected to reach the upper 90s and heat indices soaring well into the 100s, residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses. The high temperatures will persist even through the overnight hours, with little relief in sight.

In East Tennessee, the NWS in Morristown echoed similar concerns, emphasizing the potential for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The threat of flash flooding is particularly high, so residents should remain vigilant and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

As July ends, Tennessee braces for what could be a long stretch of severe weather and heat. Residents are urged to stay weather aware and prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
