Houston, TX – Southeast Texas is gearing up for dangerously high temperatures this Sunday, with the National Weather Service issuing a Heat Advisory for the region. Temperatures are forecasted to soar to 111°F, creating potentially life-threatening conditions for residents across the Houston area.

According to the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston Office, the heat index, which combines air temperature and humidity, could reach up to 111°F on Sunday afternoon. The advisory, issued late Saturday, warns of extreme heat from late Sunday morning through the evening. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially strenuous ones, and to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated.

The advisory also recommends wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing, applying sunscreen, and avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours. Those without air conditioning are particularly at risk and are urged to seek out cooling centers or stay with friends and family in cooler environments. Heat-related illnesses are possible, especially for those working outdoors or participating in outdoor events. Authorities remind everyone to check on elderly neighbors and ensure pets are not left outside in the heat.
