According to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu, Kiko was located near latitude 13.7 North, longitude 133.0 West, late Wednesday. While the storm remains well offshore, meteorologists caution that the forecast cone keeps the system heading generally westward, which could bring it closer to the Hawaiian chain by early next week.
At this time, no watches or warnings are in effect for Hawaii. However, forecasters are urging residents to monitor updates closely, especially on the Big Island, where long-range track changes could alter the risk. Even without a direct hit, the hurricane may generate higher surf and rip currents along east-facing shores through the weekend.
