HASTINGS, Neb. – Cooler-than-normal air will hang over Nebraska this week, keeping highs in the 60s and 70s while scattered rain and storm chances continue into midweek. Drivers and residents should be prepared for wet roads during the morning and evening commute periods.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, light showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible Monday, with another round developing on Wednesday. While rainfall could briefly be heavy at times, forecasters say no severe weather is expected.
Temperatures will peak in the low to mid-70s across much of central and eastern Nebraska, including Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings. Western Nebraska will stay slightly cooler, dipping into the 60s during the day and dropping into the 50s at night. The cloud cover will help hold daytime highs below seasonal norms.
Outdoor events and farm work may be slowed by passing showers, particularly Wednesday afternoon. Residents are advised to monitor changing skies and allow extra time for travel in case of downpours.
The unsettled pattern is expected to ease by late week, with drier and slightly warmer air returning across the state.
