Hastings, NE – A pleasant stretch of fall weather continues across south-central Nebraska today, with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies. Light southeast winds between 10 and 15 mph will make for comfortable outdoor conditions from late morning through sunset.
According to the National Weather Service office in Hastings, today marks the warmest and driest day of the next several, with changes arriving Monday as a weak disturbance approaches the state. Rain chances will increase to 15–25%, primarily for locations north of I-80, including Grand Island, Aurora, St. Paul, and surrounding communities. While widespread rainfall is not expected, a few light showers or sprinkles may move through during the afternoon and early evening.
Temperatures on Monday will show a north-to-south split, ranging from the mid-50s in northern counties to the upper-60s in southern areas closer to the Kansas border. Winds shift southerly at 10–20 mph, bringing slightly warmer air into southern portions of the region.
By Tuesday, cooler air settles in behind the system. Highs are forecast to drop into the low 50s to low 60s, alongside partly cloudy skies and lighter north winds around 5–10 mph. No significant precipitation is expected Tuesday, and most outdoor plans should remain unaffected.
The NWS notes that the overall pattern remains quiet, with no major storms or hazardous weather expected through midweek. Residents should still monitor updated forecasts, especially those traveling along or north of I-80 Monday when rain chances are at their highest.
