Gurnee Welcomes CPKC Holiday Train with Festive Events and Free Family Fun on Dec. 7

Gurnee, IL – The Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train is set to bring festive cheer to Gurnee on Dec. 7, offering a free, family-friendly event filled with holiday activities. Running from 4 to 6 p.m., the event will feature the nearly 1,000-foot-long train decorated with LED lights and holiday designs, expected to arrive at 5 p.m.

The festivities include a holiday concert by The Lone Bellow and Tiera Kennedy, set to begin shortly after the train’s arrival at 5:15 p.m. Families can enjoy free photos with Santa Claus, a petting zoo by Patch 22, and holiday tunes by DJ Frank Wright. A complimentary snack tent will also be available for attendees.

Parking will be provided at Viking Park, Viking Middle School, and Warren Township High School, with guests asked to walk to Depot Road and Old Grand Avenue for event access. The event organizers encourage attendees to bring non-perishable food donations for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

This event is presented by the Village of Gurnee, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Gurnee Park District, with support from local sponsors including Community Trust Credit Union and Six Flags Great America.
