Gurnee, IL – Lake County deputies arrested a 47-year-old Gurnee man on September 19 after he allegedly fled from a traffic stop and later confronted officers.

Around 10:15 p.m., deputies clocked Austin M. Williams driving 104 mph in a 50 mph zone on Route 41 near Wadsworth Road. When officers attempted to pull him over, Williams sped away westbound. Local police located his abandoned vehicle in Gurnee approximately an hour later.

As deputies prepared to tow the vehicle, a juvenile arrived, claiming the truck. The juvenile refused to leave, resulting in his arrest. Moments later, Williams appeared at the scene, demanding the juvenile’s release. He approached officers aggressively, and after refusing to comply with commands, officers subdued him with a Taser.

Williams was charged with several misdemeanors, including reckless driving, resisting arrest, and fleeing. He was released after processing and is due in court on November 6.
