Downers Grove, Ill. — The Village of Downers Grove will host a pop-up event on Saturday, June 14 for community feedback on the “Guiding DG” plan.
Guiding DG is a planning effort for future developments in Downers Grove, including the Comprehensive Plan, Active Transportation Plan, Environmental Stability Plan and Downtown and Focus Area Streetscape Plan. Guiding DG exists to serve as an informative tool for the community to know the projects happening in Downers Grove over the next 20 years.
Downers Grove recently released a Draft Comprehensive Plan. The Guiding DG Pop-Up at McCollum Park from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. will give residents an opportunity to share feedback on the draft.
According to the Guiding DG website, the Comprehensive Plan is meant to address topics of Commercial Corridors; Community Facilities and Infrastructure; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI); Economic Development; Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency; Land Uses; Residential Neighborhoods; and Transportation and Mobility. The Comprehensive Plan outlines the goals and objectives of existing conditions in Downers Grove and how the Village will achieve those goals through future development actions.
The Active Transportation Plan is meant to make Downers Grove a more walkable and bikeable community. The Environmental Stability Plan will assess the Village’s environmental issues and what needs to be changed, namely reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Streetscape Plan is designed to enhance the physical appearance of Downers Grove, including landscaping, parking spaces, sidewalks and outdoor restaurant seating options.
