Grundy County, IL – A Bourbonnais man was charged after deputies discovered his vehicle with bricks embedded in the grille, linking him to an alleged hit-and-run incident in Diamond.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded early Sunday morning to a destroyed mailbox on East Amber Lane. Video footage reportedly showed a gold-colored SUV hitting the mailbox around 2:20 a.m. Later that day, deputies found an unoccupied gold Ford Escape on the Gardner I-55 on-ramp. The vehicle reportedly had brick pieces embedded in the grille and a missing bumper piece.

The vehicle’s owner, Timothy Majewski, 45, of Bourbonnais, admitted to falling asleep at the wheel after working long hours painting houses. Majewski stated he left the scene because he did not have insurance.

Majewski was cited for failing to reduce speed, operating an uninsured vehicle, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Majewski’s court date is in July. The mailbox was valued at $3,500.
