Green Bay, Wis. – Drivers across northeast and north-central Wisconsin woke to patchy, locally dense fog Thursday morning, with visibility dropping in some rural stretches to near zero. The National Weather Service warned motorists to use extra caution, especially along U.S. Highway 41 and backcountry roads.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, fog will linger through mid-morning Thursday before clearing to mostly sunny skies, with highs reaching the upper 70s in Green Bay and the Fox Valley. By Friday, conditions turn unsettled as a line of thunderstorms is expected to develop late in the afternoon and push into the region Friday night.
Isolated strong to severe storms are possible, particularly across central and north-central Wisconsin, including Wausau, Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids. Gusty winds and brief downpours could impact evening travel and outdoor events. The storm chance diminishes by Saturday morning, giving way to sunny skies, though another weaker round of showers is possible Sunday.
Residents are urged to stay weather-aware Friday evening, charge mobile devices in advance, and avoid unnecessary travel during storms. Additional weather advisories may be issued if storm activity strengthens.
