Green Bay, Wisconsin – Dangerously cold air continues to grip northeast Wisconsin, creating serious safety and travel concerns across Green Bay and surrounding communities through Tuesday morning. Bitter wind chills are making even short trips outdoors hazardous and increasing the risk for slick roads during overnight and early morning travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, wind chills ranging from 15 to 30 degrees below zero will persist through Tuesday morning. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for all counties in northeast Wisconsin through 10 a.m. Tuesday, with Door County under the advisory from this evening through Tuesday morning. Forecasters warn that frostbite can develop on exposed skin in as little as 10 to 30 minutes under these conditions.

Roadways across Brown County, including I-41, I-43, U.S. 29, and local city streets, are vulnerable to refreezing overnight as temperatures drop sharply. Bridges, overpasses, and less-traveled roads may appear dry but can quickly turn icy due to the extreme cold. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and keep emergency supplies in their vehicles.

The coldest wind chills are expected overnight and during the Tuesday morning commute before a slight recovery later in the day. Residents are encouraged to dress in layers, limit time outdoors, bring pets indoors, and monitor updates, as additional cold advisories could follow if Arctic air lingers.
