Green Bay, WI – An arctic blast has plunged temperatures well below freezing across much of Wisconsin this morning, with wind chills ranging from -10°F to -25°F, according to the US National Weather Service in Green Bay.

The bitter cold will persist through the day, with highs only reaching 8°F to 15°F across most of the region, except for slightly warmer readings in Door County. The Weather Service notes that several locations in north-central and central Wisconsin could set or tie record low maximum temperatures for December 4.

The coldest wind chills are being reported from Wausau, Rhinelander, and Antigo, where “feels-like” values dropped below -20°F early Thursday. Forecasters urge residents to limit time outdoors, wear multiple layers, and bring pets indoors as the extreme cold poses frostbite risks within minutes of exposure.

Conditions are expected to slowly improve Friday as temperatures climb back into the 20s. However, another round of subzero cold is possible this weekend as the arctic air mass lingers over the Great Lakes region.
