Glasgow, Montana — A mild and dry weather pattern will persist across northeast Montana through the remainder of the week, bringing unseasonably warm temperatures and accelerating snowmelt across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Glasgow.

Daytime high temperatures are forecast to climb well above early-February averages, with highs in the 50s and 60s common and localized readings near 70 degrees possible Thursday, especially in the Winnett area under ideal conditions. Northern locations such as Glasgow, Malta, and Plentywood could also run warmer than forecast if remaining snowpack continues to fade.

Along key corridors including US Highway 2, MT Highway 13, and rural county roads, melting snow may lead to wet pavement during the day and patchy refreeze overnight, particularly in shaded areas. Motorists are advised to remain alert for changing road conditions during the morning and evening hours.

The warm-up will be accompanied by dry weather through the weekend, limiting new precipitation but allowing patchy fog to develop in areas where snow remains on the ground. This fog may reduce visibility during early morning travel, especially near river valleys and low-lying terrain.

Forecast highs through early next week include mid to upper 40s in Plentywood and Glasgow, lower 50s in Poplar and Malta, and upper 50s to low 60s in Jordan, Sidney, and Zortman before a slight cooldown early next week. Overnight lows will generally remain above freezing in many areas, further supporting snowmelt.

While the warmth is welcome, residents should remain mindful of rapid thaw impacts, including soft gravel roads, standing water, and localized fog. No significant storms are expected at this time.
