Peachtree City, GA – Temperatures across Georgia are set to plunge this weekend as an Arctic cold front sweeps through the region. Residents should prepare for sub-freezing conditions, high fire danger, and hazardous winds starting Friday night and continuing into next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, winds gusting up to 35 mph combined with relative humidity below 25% will create dangerous fire conditions Friday afternoon and evening, especially north of Interstate 20. A Special Weather Statement advises residents to avoid outdoor burning and exercise caution with open flames.

Friday’s high will reach 58°F, but temperatures will drop quickly after sunset, with lows hovering near 42°F. Showers are expected late Friday, transitioning into scattered rain through Saturday afternoon. By Sunday night, temperatures are forecast to plummet to 17°F, with wind chills making it feel even colder.

Looking ahead, Martin Luther King Jr. Day will bring sunny but frigid conditions, with a high of only 32°F. Snow showers are possible Tuesday as the Arctic air deepens its hold on the region.

Residents should take precautions to protect outdoor plants, pets, and exposed pipes. Stay updated on weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel on potentially icy roads early next week.
