Atlanta, GA — A wind advisory is in effect for the Atlanta area through 9 p.m. Friday, with gusts up to 35 mph expected to create hazardous conditions on I-85 and surrounding roads. The strong winds could bring down tree limbs and cause road obstructions, making travel risky throughout the weekend.

The National Weather Service advises residents to secure loose outdoor items and exercise caution while driving, especially on highways like I-85 where high winds may affect vehicle stability. The gusty conditions are expected to persist into Saturday, though the skies will clear, with temperatures reaching a high of 77°F.

Drivers should stay alert for potential debris on the roads and avoid travel near wooded areas where falling branches may pose a danger. Winds will begin to calm down by Sunday evening, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 79°F expected for the rest of the weekend. The early part of next week will bring calmer weather, with temperatures in the low 80s and clear skies forecasted.
