Atlanta, Georgia – Daily spring thunderstorms will threaten parts of Georgia beginning Wednesday, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds to the Atlanta metro and beyond.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, isolated strong storms may develop Wednesday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., especially north of I-20 and along key corridors like I-75 and I-85. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather remains in effect for far northwest Georgia, where damaging wind gusts could occur.

Wednesday’s storm window opens after 11 a.m., with thunder and downpours likely by mid-afternoon. Temperatures will climb to the low 80s before storms roll through. While widespread severe weather is not expected, localized hazards could disrupt travel and outdoor plans. If you’re headed out Wednesday evening, charge devices, stay weather-aware, and check traffic updates along major roadways.

Thunderstorm chances continue each afternoon through Saturday, with the most active periods expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are also possible Thursday and Friday nights, with daytime highs in the low 80s. Rain chances ease slightly by Sunday.
