Atlanta, Georgia – After a calm start to the week, Georgia residents should prepare for a wet and potentially stormy stretch beginning Wednesday, with heavy rain and localized flooding possible through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, dry and mostly sunny conditions are expected Monday and Tuesday, with mild temperatures across much of the state. Beginning Wednesday, a slow-moving system will bring rounds of showers and thunderstorms that could linger through Sunday, especially in central and northern Georgia.
Communities from Atlanta to Macon may see several inches of rainfall over multiple days. Flash flooding could become a concern late in the week, particularly in urban areas and low-lying spots. Thursday through Saturday currently appear to hold the highest risk for severe storms and heavier downpours.
Drivers are urged to watch for water on roadways and avoid travel during intense rainfall. Residents should clear storm drains, secure outdoor items, and charge electronic devices in case of power outages.
This prolonged wet pattern could disrupt weekend events and outdoor activities across the state. Storm chances are expected to persist through Sunday evening, with additional updates and possible flood advisories likely later in the week.
