Harrisburg, Pa. – Daily rounds of rain and thunderstorms will keep much of the Mid-Atlantic soggy through Friday, with another 1 to 2 inches possible across already saturated ground.

According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, parts of Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey picked up 1 to 2 inches of rain over the weekend. Another round of soaking rain is forecast through the workweek, raising concerns for minor river rises and localized flooding.

Communities from Scranton to Trenton may see totals surpassing 2 inches by week’s end, with the heaviest rainfall expected in northeast Pennsylvania. Minor rises of 1 to 4 feet are forecast for area rivers, though major flooding is not anticipated at this time. Streams and low-lying roads may still become hazardous during heavier downpours.

Motorists are urged to avoid water-covered roads and stay alert for hydroplaning risks during evening commutes. Emergency management teams in Harrisburg, Wilkes-Barre, and central New Jersey are monitoring river levels closely.

While no flood warnings are currently in effect, conditions could change quickly. Additional advisories may be issued as rainfall continues through Friday.
