Atlanta, Georgia – Georgia heads into the Feb 5–9 period under a persistent cold and mostly dry weather pattern, with limited chances for rain or winter precipitation statewide but temperatures running below normal for early February. While snow and ice risks remain minimal across most of Georgia, the prolonged chill is expected to be more impactful, especially during overnight and early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service and NOAA’s 6–10 day outlooks, below-normal temperatures will continue to dominate the eastern half of the country, stretching from the Mid-Atlantic and New England down the I-95 corridor and into the Deep South, including Georgia. Precipitation chances remain slim for areas south of northern Illinois and west of the Pacific Northwest near Eugene, Oregon, keeping Georgia largely dry during this stretch.

In metro Atlanta and along the I-75 corridor through Macon, daytime highs are expected to stay cooler than seasonal averages, with several nights dipping into the 30s and lower 40s. While widespread freezing conditions are not expected, the extended cold follows recent weeks in which nearly 100 temperature-related deaths have been reported across southern states, raising concerns for vulnerable populations.

State and local officials encourage residents to use caution with space heaters, check on elderly neighbors, and limit prolonged exposure to cold conditions. The quiet pattern is expected to hold through the period, though additional cold advisories could be issued if temperatures trend lower than expected.
