Atlanta, GA – A Freeze Watch has been issued for much of north and west Georgia, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 24 degrees late Thursday night into Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the Freeze Watch will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, impacting cities including Marietta, Rome, Carrollton, and Dalton. Residents in affected areas should prepare for freezing conditions that could damage crops, sensitive vegetation, and outdoor plumbing.

Additionally, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for parts of northwest Georgia, including Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield counties. Winds are expected to range between 10 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. These conditions may result in downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.

Residents are advised to take precautions by securing outdoor objects, protecting plants, and insulating exposed pipes to prevent freezing. Drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, should exercise caution due to strong wind gusts.

The National Weather Service urges residents to monitor local forecasts for updates and to take necessary safety measures as temperatures drop overnight.
