Georgia – The air feels dry and हल्का crisp across Atlanta this morning, and that dryness is setting the stage for a dangerous fire risk. Grass and brush are brittle, and even a small spark could spread quickly in neighborhoods and along busy roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, humidity levels will drop to 30% or lower for several hours this afternoon, creating high fire danger conditions across north and central Georgia. Winds remain light at 4 to 8 mph, but the dry air alone is enough to allow fires to ignite and spread rapidly.

The risk stretches across metro Atlanta, including Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett counties. Areas along I-75, I-85, and I-20 are especially vulnerable where dry roadside vegetation can catch fire from vehicle sparks or discarded areas.

Take precautions now. Avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarettes, and delay any yard work that could create sparks. Fire officials stress that conditions can deteriorate quickly during peak heating hours this afternoon.

Temperatures climb to 83°F today under mostly sunny skies, reinforcing the dry setup. Warm conditions continue Thursday and Friday with highs near 84°F and clear skies.

Relief begins to build this weekend. Showers and thunderstorms become likely Saturday, with rain chances reaching 70%. That moisture could help reduce fire danger but may also bring brief travel slowdowns and reduced visibility.
