Atlanta, Ga. – Strong thunderstorms could sweep into western Georgia by early afternoon Tuesday, bringing a risk of damaging winds, hail, and localized power outages through the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a cluster of storms will enter from the west after 1 p.m., with the most intense activity expected between 3 and 9 p.m. The storms could reach severe levels, especially across parts of central Georgia, including Macon, LaGrange, and Warner Robins. A Level 2 out of 5 severe threat has been issued for much of the region, highlighting risks of wind gusts over 60 mph and hail up to a quarter inch in diameter.

Cities along I-85 and I-75 should prepare for rapidly changing road conditions and possible delays. While tornado risk remains low, isolated rotating storms cannot be ruled out. Cooler air across northeast Georgia, including Athens and Gainesville, may limit storm strength in those areas.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours, and keep phones charged in case of outages. Schools and evening commuters should monitor updates closely.

Severe weather alerts remain in effect through late Tuesday night. More updates are expected as storms develop.
