West Central Georgia – A flood watch remains in effect for West Central Georgia through 2 p.m. Monday, as the region faces an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain. This follows yesterday’s downpours of 1 to 3 inches, which have already saturated the area, raising concerns about flash flooding.
According to the National Weather Service, this heavy rain could cause rising water levels, especially along creeks and streams, and increase the risk of flooding in low-lying areas. Flash flooding may develop rapidly this afternoon, and motorists are advised to avoid traveling through flood-prone areas.
The weather service urges residents of counties such as Columbus, Macon, and surrounding areas to stay alert for rapidly changing conditions. Areas that received heavy rain yesterday are particularly vulnerable to additional flooding.
The flood watch will remain in effect until 2 p.m. Monday, with the potential for further advisories if conditions worsen. Stay updated on weather alerts and take precautions to protect your property and stay safe.
