Gaylord, Michigan – Scattered thunderstorms across northern Michigan are expected to continue into Monday night, bringing the threat of gusty winds, hail, and locally heavy rainfall.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, storms will taper off overnight as skies remain mostly cloudy. Lows will dip into the mid-40s to low 50s across the region, with wet roads and reduced visibility possible during evening commutes.
Areas including Traverse City, Petoskey, and Alpena could see brief but strong cells with hail and wind gusts over 40 mph. Residents are urged to remain indoors during active storms and to secure any loose outdoor items. Power outages and minor flooding in low-lying areas are possible.
Conditions improve significantly by Tuesday, with mostly cloudy skies and highs ranging from 65 to 75 degrees. Sunshine returns midweek, bringing drier weather and highs in the 70s across the northern Lower Peninsula.
Additional weather statements are unlikely after tonight, but updates will be posted if new storm cells develop.
