Gas Line Ruptured in Albion Township Collision, Hospitalizes Three

Albion Township, MI – An accident in Albion Township on Tuesday afternoon resulted in a gas line rupture and injuries to three individuals.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of M99 and D Drive South. Deputies responded to the scene where a vehicle traveling eastbound on D Drive South failed to stop at a posted stop sign, colliding with a vehicle traveling northbound on M99.

The crash involved a 53-year-old male and a 50-year-old female from Eckford Township, and a 43-year-old male from Jonesville. All three individuals were transported to Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson County with non-life-threatening injuries.

The impact of the collision resulted in the shearing of a main gas line in Albion Township. SEMCO Energy Gas Company promptly shut off the gas line and repaired the damage. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is still investigating the cause of the accident.
