Atlanta, GA – A man listed among the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives was arrested Friday afternoon in Decatur, according to authorities.
According to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Strategic Enforcement Unit (SEU) located and arrested James Anthony Zachery without incident. Officials said Zachery had been wanted on multiple felony charges stemming from an investigation involving the alleged trafficking and sexual abuse of a child.
Authorities said Zachery is facing charges that include rape, aggravated sodomy by force, trafficking a person for sexual servitude, and solicitation of sodomy involving a child under the age of 10. The charges remain allegations, and Zachery is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
Sheriff Patrick “Pat” Labat praised the work of the Strategic Enforcement Unit following the arrest.
“The SEU fugitive team did an outstanding job executing this operation and safely apprehending James Anthony Zachery,” Labat said in a statement. He added that the arrest reflects the agency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen fugitive apprehension operations and protect public safety.
The sheriff’s office said Zachery is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail without bond.
Officials did not release additional details about the underlying investigation or specify when the alleged offenses occurred. Court proceedings are expected to determine the next steps in the case.
