Goodland, KS – A frost advisory is in effect for parts of northeast Colorado, northwest Kansas, and southwest Nebraska starting Sunday night. The National Weather Service issued the advisory at 1:27 PM MDT on Saturday, warning residents that temperatures as low as 34 degrees could lead to frost formation.
The advisory will begin at midnight MDT (1 AM CDT) on Sunday night and extend through 8 AM MDT (9 AM CDT) on Monday. According to the National Weather Service, low-lying areas may experience even colder temperatures. Frost can damage sensitive vegetation, and plants left unprotected may not survive.
Residents in affected areas, including Yuma, Cheyenne, Rawlins, and Norton counties, should take steps to cover outdoor plants and protect them from frost. The colder conditions are expected to persist through early Monday morning.
The advisory affects cities such as McCook, Benkelman, Hoxie, and Wray. Local residents are urged to prepare for the colder temperatures and protect vulnerable outdoor vegetation.
