Rochester Hills, MI — The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has identified Hussein Murray, 72, as the victim of a fatal home invasion in Rochester Hills. Investigators confirmed one of the suspects allegedly involved in the incident has been captured in Shreveport, Louisiana. The arrest follows a widespread manhunt for two men who posed as utility workers.

Murray was found dead in his basement on Friday after the suspects allegedly tricked him and his wife into believing there was a gas leak. His wife, also 72, survived the attack and was briefly hospitalized. She told deputies the men gained access to the home by posing as DTE employees and then accompanied the couple to the basement, where her husband was killed.

According to authorities, one suspect remains at large, and Sheriff Michael Bouchard urged him to surrender. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether any items were stolen during the invasion.

Bouchard also warned the public to verify the credentials of any utility worker before granting home access. The investigation is ongoing as officials work with the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office to pursue formal charges against the arrested suspect.
