Reedsport, OR – A frost advisory has been issued for the South Central Oregon Coast overnight, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 34 degrees. The advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Monday morning.

The National Weather Service warns that frost could harm sensitive outdoor plants if they are left uncovered. Residents in areas such as Reedsport, Coos Bay, Bandon, and Port Orford should take precautions to protect their gardens and any tender vegetation.

According to the advisory, the cold air mass is expected to linger into the early hours, increasing the potential for frost formation. Sensitive plants may be damaged or killed if left unprotected during these hours. Experts recommend covering plants with cloths or moving potted plants indoors to avoid damage.

Looking ahead, the cold pattern will continue through midweek, with overnight lows remaining in the mid-30s and daytime highs reaching the upper 40s to low 50s. By Thursday, a slight warming trend may reduce frost concerns, but residents are encouraged to stay updated with local forecasts for any changes.

Be prepared for potentially slick roadways in the early morning hours due to frost formation, especially in shaded areas along U.S. Route 101 and Highway 38. Drivers should exercise caution and allow extra time for their morning commute.

Stay tuned for updates and ensure outdoor precautions are taken tonight to protect sensitive vegetation.
