Denver, Colorado – Damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes threaten millions across Colorado, southeastern Wyoming, and southwestern Nebraska Tuesday as a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 5 p.m. MDT.

According to the National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center, gusts up to 70 mph and hail up to the size of apples are likely in parts of the Front Range, with a couple of tornadoes also possible. The watch covers major population centers including Denver, Colorado Springs, Cheyenne, Scottsbluff, and Pueblo.

In Colorado, 24 counties are impacted, including Larimer, El Paso, Weld, and Boulder. Key highways such as I-25, I-70, and I-76 could see reduced visibility and debris on roadways. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and secure outdoor objects. In Wyoming, areas like Laramie, Goshen, and Platte counties are under the watch, while Nebraska’s Panhandle—including Kimball and Scotts Bluff counties—faces the brunt of the storm threat.

Power outages and tree damage are possible, especially in more rural areas. Residents should monitor NOAA weather radio and local alerts, keep phones charged, and move to sturdy shelters if warnings are issued.

Storm conditions are expected to ease after 5 p.m., but more advisories could follow if storms redevelop later tonight.
