London, KY – A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for eastern Kentucky from 10 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, with wind chills dropping as low as -5°F.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson reports that areas including Somerset, Hazard, and Middlesboro could experience dangerous cold overnight. Officials warn that frostbite can occur within 30 minutes on exposed skin.
Residents should wear multiple layers, keep pets indoors, and take precautions against frozen pipes. Those still recovering from recent flooding are encouraged to seek a warm, safe location overnight.
Temperatures will gradually warm Friday afternoon, but cold conditions could persist through next week.
