Quad Cities, IA/IL – Dense fog will persist across the region into late Sunday morning, dropping visibility below a quarter mile at times. Motorists in eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois are urged to use extreme caution, as pavement temperatures hover near freezing, creating slick road conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through noon Sunday, impacting major roadways like Interstate 80 and surrounding rural routes. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, maintain extra distance between vehicles, and use low-beam headlights to improve visibility.
Conditions are expected to improve by early afternoon as patchy fog replaces widespread dense fog. However, temperatures will remain steady in the upper 30s, with drizzle possible in isolated areas through the day.
Looking ahead, Monday will bring warmer temperatures, with highs in the mid-40s under partly sunny skies. Overnight lows will dip into the 20s, leading to patchy fog early Tuesday. By midweek, a cold front will move into the area, bringing cooler air and a chance for rain transitioning to snow late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Residents should prepare for slick spots and fluctuating visibility over the next 24 hours and monitor updated forecasts for rain-snow developments by midweek.
Stay safe on the roads and check local weather updates for changing conditions.
Extended Forecast for Quad Cities Region:
• Monday: High 40–47°F, partly sunny.
• Tuesday: High 37–44°F, chance of rain late.
• Wednesday: High 25–35°F, mix of rain and snow possible.
