Albuquerque, NM – A freezing fog advisory is in effect for portions of central and southern New Mexico, including the Estancia Valley, Central Highlands, South Central Highlands, Guadalupe County, and areas above 7,500 feet in the Sacramento Mountains. The advisory will remain in place until 9 a.m. Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, visibility is expected to drop to a quarter mile or less in freezing fog, creating hazardous driving conditions. Slick spots are possible on roads, particularly on Interstate 40 between Santa Rosa and Edgewood, as well as U.S. 285, U.S. 54, U.S. 60, and several state highways. Light icing may also occur in the Sacramento Mountains, impacting roads near Cloudcroft and Apache Summit.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles. Travelers should exercise caution on icy roads and monitor conditions closely.
