Waycross, GA – A Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory remain in effect for southeast Georgia from 11 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday, with another Freeze Watch in place for Friday night into Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville, temperatures could plummet to 24°F, with wind chills as low as 17°F. Areas impacted include Douglas, Jesup, Folkston, and Waycross.
Residents should take precautions to protect plants, pipes, and pets. Officials warn that young children, the elderly, and the homeless are particularly vulnerable to the cold.
Warmer temperatures are expected by Friday afternoon, but another night of freezing temperatures is possible heading into Saturday.
