Fowler, IN – A Benton County deputy was injured Thursday after her patrol SUV went airborne during a pursuit on US 52. Benton County Deputy Julie Marsh was monitoring traffic near County Road 500 South when she spotted a light blue car with Illinois plates speeding at 87 mph in a 60-mph zone.

Deputy Marsh activated her emergency lights to pull over the vehicle. As she attempted to stop the car, another vehicle forced her into the median. Despite efforts to control her patrol SUV, the vehicle collided with a culvert and went airborne before crashing.

Marsh was transported to IU Hospital in Lafayette with non-life-threatening injuries. Both the car that was being pulled over and the vehicle that caused the crash fled the scene. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information to contact them at 765-884-0080 or the Indiana State Police at 765-567-2125.
