Shreveport, Louisiana – Severe thunderstorms are expected to impact much of northwest Louisiana and the broader Four State Region Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing the potential for damaging winds and large hail.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the severe weather threat has been elevated to a Level 2 out of 5 for both today and Friday. Thursday’s storms could begin by mid-afternoon and continue into the early evening, with an area-wide risk of strong winds and quarter-size hail. A few storms may approach severe limits, and while the tornado risk is low, it cannot be ruled out.

Friday’s outlook indicates a slightly more isolated pattern, but storms capable of producing wind damage and hail are still expected, particularly in southern Arkansas and northeast Texas, extending into northwest Louisiana.

Residents in Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding parishes should secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during storms, and ensure weather alerts are enabled on mobile devices. Local officials advise having multiple ways to receive warnings, especially during overnight hours when awareness drops.

The severe threat is expected to diminish late Friday evening. Additional alerts may be issued as storm tracks evolve.
