Fort Wayne, IN – A weak system will bring light wintry precipitation to northern Indiana this weekend, with freezing drizzle and light snow expected from late Friday night through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana.
Forecasters say patchy freezing drizzle or flurries may develop early Saturday morning, mainly north and west of U.S. 24. By late Saturday night, a clipper system moving in from the northwest will spread light snow across the region, continuing into Sunday morning.
Snowfall totals are expected to remain modest, with 1 to 3 inches possible north of U.S. 24 — including areas near South Bend, Goshen, and Angola. Farther south, accumulations are likely to stay under an inch.
Temperatures will remain below freezing through the weekend, with overnight lows in the upper teens and highs in the low 30s. The NWS cautions that even light icing and snow could create slick roadways, especially early Sunday.
Drivers are urged to use caution and allow extra time if traveling Saturday night or Sunday morning. Conditions should gradually improve by Sunday afternoon as snow tapers off.
