Fort Lauderdale, FL – Two Broward County students were arrested this week for allegedly making threats against local schools, the Broward Sheriff’s Office announced. The arrests mark a concerning start to the school year as law enforcement officials emphasize the seriousness of such threats.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the first incident involved a 13-year-old male who was arrested on Saturday after posting a threat to commit a mass shooting at Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) offices. The second arrest, made Thursday, involved a 13-year-old female accused of threatening Cooper City High School. Both students face felony charges.

Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony reiterated the importance of taking all threats seriously, noting the potential long-term consequences for the students involved. Additional threats remain under investigation.
